Please help me, my situation is very complicated. Thanks.

When I reinstalled the system, I used deep format on the hard drive. Then, in order to install DOS 7.10 on the notebook, I installed vfloppy. But after restarting, when I was about to install, it actually prompted me that no FAT32 formatted drive was found!! I clearly have one! My C: D: E: are NTFS, and F: is FAT32, and the ISO is also on F:.

Later, I saw that矮人DOS is good, so I downloaded and installed it. But when I choose "MS-DOS" at startup, I get the prompt "Boot sector error, cannot enter", and then the machine freezes. If I choose the pure DOS of矮人, the result is that a "LOAD _" appears and it doesn't move, the cursor flashes continuously, and it just can't boot in. I don't know how long it will take to load.

Everyone, what should I do? I really want to install DOS 7.1. Did I delete the original DOS when I deep formatted the hard drive? My system is Windows XP SP2, and I only have a pirated installation CD. Also, there is no floppy drive on my notebook, but there is a burner.

Please everyone help me, I really tried my best.

Thanks everyone!

If you want the DOS 7.10 on the hard disk to run normally, it is best to format the last logical partition of the hard disk as a FAT or FAT32 partition. Otherwise, there doesn't seem to be anything particularly to pay attention to. Of course, judging from your situation, it is best to allocate a separate primary partition (FAT or FAT32) for DOS 7.10.

Friend upstairs, thank you for your reply

But I'm a beginner on DOS. How exactly should I operate those things you mentioned? Can you be more specific?
Thanks

It's already very specific. If you don't understand, go study the basic knowledge of DOS.

Now that I've already installed the Windows system, how can I use DOS to partition?

1. It is suggested to back up important files of the computer to a USB flash drive
2. Re - partition or format the C drive as FAT32 (compatible with DOS)
3. Install the system on the D drive (for easy maintenance)

Just re-partition and reinstall the system.

First, take a look at the stickied essence posts in the forum. The above suggestions are unscientific. Things should be learned step by step, and no one can learn for you instead.

In XP + DOS, using FAT32 on the C drive is the most conservative and safest option

Reinstall the system. hda1 uses ext2. hda2 uses ntfs. The others, vfat, ext2/3, whatever.

Why are all the answers messy and overcomplicating simple questions? Re-partitioning a hard drive without damaging the original data on it isn't a very difficult task. There are so many partition software available to do this operation now, for example: Partition Magic (Partition Wizard), Acronis Disk Director Suite, Paragon Partition manager, etc., and basically there are both DOS or Windows versions.

In fact, there is no need to necessarily install DOS 7.10 on an independent partition. DOS is actually just a combination of a kernel and some external command tools. And the kernel is only one file: IO.SYS. Plus msdos.sys, config.sys, autoexec.bat, it's just 4 files. Put them in a floppy disk image, start it with grub4dos, and then put other external commands in a certain (or several) directory of a FAT partition on the hard disk, and set the appropriate search path.
