In the DOS that comes with win98se (pure DOS), I can't use the CD command to go from drive C to other drives, such as drive D and drive E; but I can use the FORMAT command to format drive D and drive E. I don't know what the reason is, so I'd like to ask all the experts for some pointers!!

You can't use the CD command to change drives.
