When the system starts, press F8 or hold down the Ctrl key to enter the boot menu, then choose Command Prompt Only or Safe mode Command prompt only.

Microsoft once released a patch specifically to fix this problem, try finding it and see.
Also, I suggest not using ME, it's even worse than 98, and Microsoft has already abandoned it. |

WinME, in order not to reduce performance, does not boot from DOS; when it starts it directly loads the core program of WINME, so the system won't let you run some DOS commands. But you can run DOS from the accessories in WinME.

By default, ME's startup menu does not have command prompt only, and ME hides MS-DOS real mode.
The solution is to download a third-party patch. http://www.powerload.fsnet.co.uk/download/mfddme13.exe Read the readme before installing. |
