China DOS Union

Holding on to an obsolete system and shouting here about development, promotion, and unity—I think this union has no need to keep existing. If it were 10 years ago, I would have been the first to support the DOS Union. Is there still any need now to cling stubbornly to that black-background white-text thing?
If you say DOS can be used to solve some problems that can't be solved under Windows, at most that only shows DOS hasn't been completely eliminated yet. What is there to talk about in terms of promoting and developing it? I suggest changing it to remembering DOS.

Do you think DOS can help you publish on the web, help you manage your 160g hard drive, make better use of the speed of your 512m memory, or let you enjoy playing CS? DOS was only kept by Windows for compatibility with old systems, just like AMD released the 64-bit CPU Opteron "SledgeHammer" in order to take care of the X86 computing platform.

Our forum is not about rigidly sticking to old DOS, but about carrying forward DOS's characteristics and advantages!!! I hope everyone will discuss this; that is the real purpose of a DOS forum: making progress together!!!
I think one remaining use of DOS is that it can keep a 486 from being thrown into the trash, and let a 486 still run

You misunderstood. I have installation discs for all Microsoft operating systems, but I only install the Windows 98 among them; I haven't installed any of the other operating systems.

kksse: I think you haven't understood DOS's functions very clearly, and that's why you're saying this. Although DOS's interface is not as good as Windows's, there are actually more things it can do than Windows~~ Besides, our union isn't deliberately asking you to come; if you don't like DOS, then you simply don't have to come~~~

Everyone's temper is really flaring! Just think about it: there are more than 4,000 people on the forum now. Not everyone who comes to this forum likes DOS or likes using DOS. It's perfectly normal for 1 or 2, or 10 or 20, or even more people to have different opinions. What the moderators should do is integrate different opinions, not force their own opinions onto others. In fact, it is precisely because people like kksse exist that this forum's existence is more meaningful, isn't it? If everyone thought DOS was great to use, knew how to use it well, liked using it, and had always been using it, then we probably wouldn't need to promote DOS here at all, right??

I don't think what Kksse said was wrong either. I also agree that calling it remembering DOS would make sense. However, there is one point I want to explain: although the DOS command line is black background with white text, its execution efficiency is far higher than that of a GUI, especially in network administration. That is why Windows Server 2003 has greatly expanded the command line, to the point that it can be described as everywhere (please check my upcoming article in a few days, "Fruit of Midsummer: Experiencing Windows Server 2003 Services".
