The method of making xpm pictures under Windows
The background picture of GRUB needs to be a 640×480×8 (color depth is 4) 14-color xpm picture. Only when all the above conditions are met, the obtained xpm background picture will not be distorted after starting GRUB. The following introduces the method of making xpm pictures under Windows.
I. Required tools
1. FireWorks
2. ACD Photo Editor
3. Xnview
II. Prepare the picture you like (it can be commonly used formats such as JPG, PNG, etc.)
III. Open the picture with FireWorks, and then select - . As shown in Figure 1

IV. Set the pixel width to 640 and the height to 480 in . As shown in Figure 2

V. Set "Format" to BMP8 in , "Palette" to "Closest to Web" or "Best Fit" (preview which one is better by yourself), enter "14" in the right box (because GRUB only supports 14 colors), then check 100%, and finally click the button at the lower right to get a BMP format file. As shown in Figure 3. This step is the most critical.

VI. Open the 01.BMP picture exported by FireWorks with ACD Photo Editor, open - option, change "256 colors (8 bits)" to "16 colors (4 bits)", and then save it as a *.BMP picture. As shown in Figure 4
4.jpg (52.92 KB)

VII. The last step is to open the just BMP bitmap with Xnview, and then save it as XPM format.
After testing, the distortion situation of the XPM picture made by this method is smaller than the method provided by the previous forum friends.
Now upload the two pictures I made for everyone.
