The 16-bit version of XCOPY doesn't support long filenames, but the 32-bit XCOPY32 does, that is, in the DOS window of Win9x.
As for the reason, it's really a pity... because the person at Microsoft who made XCOPY support long filenames wasn't familiar with ASM, but was familiar with C, so... |

Then if I boot with that 7.10 boot disk you made, and then use the xcopy in it to copy files, it still won't support long filenames either, right?

Use the COPY command. If you want to copy subdirectories, then use COPY /S in 4DOS 7.50.
