Experts, I'm just a newbie. A few days ago I used the C: drive with Win98 installed to create an MS-DOS boot disk, then I formatted the D drive with Win2000 installed using Win98's MS-DOS. After setting it to boot from floppy, I entered COMMAND, then on drive D I entered FORMAT C:, then set it to boot from CD, and reinstalled Win98, but it verified for a long time with no response, so I had no choice but to reinstall Win2000, and unexpectedly it actually worked. Then I changed my mind, rebooted, formatted, and installed Win98 again, but this time it said there were winnt files on the hard disk and that I had to delete them first, but I had already formatted it, so how come... ? I had no choice but to reinstall Win2000 again. After I got it done, I found that my C drive, which was originally 7 GB, now had only 2 GB! The utility software PM found that drive C had an extended partition, exactly 5 GB! But Win2000 is installed on drive C, so it can't be operated on. What should I do? (But at most I can only format drive C!)

Try spfdisk, it solves it very easily..

I think you used the wrong format. You probably don't know that a FAT primary partition can only use 2 GB. You can change it to FAT16 format and it'll be OK.

The person in post #3 was wrong.
It should be: a FAT (FAT16) partition can only be used up to a maximum of 2 GB; you can change it to FAT32 format and it'll be OK.
