I want to ask, when I download DOS boot disks, I see many versions such as PC-DOS. What's the difference between higher and lower versions?
It can't be that the higher versions are always better, right?! Also, after downloading I see they're all IMG files. Are those image files? Do I need to use software before they can be written out to a disk?? Please advise, experts. |

There are two concepts of “version”: one is an updated version after upgrades and improvements. Those are distinguished by numbers, to be exact, by version numbers. The other is versions with different kernels released by different vendors. Generally speaking, higher versions are relatively better than lower versions. Who would keep making their own stuff worse and worse, right?
IMG files are generally floppy disk image format, preserving information such as the DOS boot sector. There are many tools under DOS and Windows that can extract them. They can be written out to any storage medium on a PC. |

Thanks for your reply, but let me ask, can IMG files be written out to a hard disk and a USB drive?
