I have looked here for many times, wanting to find the method of making a bootable USB drive. Later I saw a post about making a bootable drive, tried it, but it didn't work.

Method: 1. Download mdos71bd.zip
2. Copy it to the USB drive, can't boot, carefully check, find that WINIMAGE software is needed, download winimage, install it well
3. Start winimage, select the removable disk G:
4. Select read into disk
5. Restart, prompt missing operating system. Ended in failure.

My system is xp sp2
My computer has no floppy drive.
Is there no way except finding a CD-ROM to boot?

You can use software like USBBOOT to make a bootable disk. It's best to try several such software. There are many of them. Search online for "USB bootable disk" and you can find things like HP's and many others.

It depends on what kind of bootable disk you want to make. Generally, you can use USBOOT to make a bootable disk, but it can't load the CD-ROM and USB flash drive. If you want to make a powerful multi-functional DOS bootable disk, then there are many troubles. I used Shen Jie's MSDOS7.1 floppy disk version, and there were many problems on my USB flash drive.
