Vista indeed doesn't have boot.ini. Its startup menu configuration is all in bcd, and you can use the bcdedit command to add and modify menu items (the operation is quite complicated, just look at the help of bcdedit /?). If you installed Vista on the basis of XP, then in principle it still supports the original startup items in boot.ini.

You can download my grub4dos beginner's tutorial, which adds "Enter grub4dos through the boot menu of Windows VISTA" and uses a batch script to automatically load grub4dos into the Vista boot item (not the MBR). Of course, it can also be slightly modified to add other items.

I really don't understand why Microsoft did this. Besides being more complicated to maintain, I don't see any benefits.

The security has been improved, right? Hehe. No more random changes.

Can I ask where your tutorial is?
Thanks.
After installing VISTA, games like Great Age of Exploration II, Romance of the Three Kingdoms V, and Warcraft cannot run, saying something about not supporting full screen.
Urgently need to play games in pure DOS heh
