Tool collection for making a super WIN98 boot disk

Below are some tools for improving a WIN98 boot disk. You can use them to make a boot disk that meets your own requirements. You can refer to my article “How to Make a Super-Powerful WIN98 Boot Disk” posted on the China DOS Union Forum.

SYSPACK compresses .SYS files used as drivers, such as HIMEM.SYS
DIET V1.41 can compress EXE and COM files in DOS, and can compress some specially formatted files such as EMM386.EXE, SMARTDRV.EXE
PKLITE V2.0 can compress EXE and COM files under DOS/WIN3X
UPX V1.23 the most powerful DOS/WIN9X EXE file compression tool, can significantly reduce the size of executable files

UNP V4.1 can remove the shells of compression software such as DIET, PKLITE, EXEPACK, because many executable files were already compressed with PKLITE and the like before; after unpacking them with UNP, you can then use UPX and similar tools for stronger compression.
X_tract works the same as UNP, with slightly stronger functions

HD2 HD-COPY2.0 is used to make image files of boot floppies and to restore image files into boot disks
IMG IMGDRIVE uses memory under DOS to emulate a floppy drive. It can modify and save image files without a floppy disk, and can also convert between HD-COPY and DISKDUPE image formats.
GETBTIMG a tool for making floppy image files for bootable CDs; the IMG files it creates can be recorded as bootable CDs with NERO.

Also recommended is the modified IO .SYS by WENGIER, which is 100K smaller than the original
