I used an XP startup floppy to make a bootable CD, but after booting from the CD I can't use the Attrib command. I want to modify the attributes of a certain directory on a certain drive in the environment booted from the CD. I'd appreciate some guidance from the experts here ;)

Go into the command prompt (cmd.exe), attrib +h E:\a.bat adds the hidden attribute to E:\a.bat. If that still doesn't work, then I don't know either.

Attrib is an external command. If yours can't be used because Attrib is missing for some reason, just copy one over from somewhere else.

Since the OP is using a bootable CD, then the CD definitely doesn't have the Attrib command in it. Under DOS, try entering the system32 folder; if you can get into it, then it can be used.

Copy the external command into it.
