It should be unlikely - reason: said by Microsoft!
But will you still think that way after seeing the following things?
Perfect GHOST Vista Pure Edition Official Version
Windows Vista (x86) - DVD (Simplified Chinese)
Windows Vista Ultimate Simplified Chinese MSDN Official Version (32bit) master disk production.
Let's assume that the information provided by Xiaolu Studio is true: The Vista in this process is installed with GHOST 8.3; its installation source file is WM_CJ_C.GHO.
Questions (Installing under MS-DOS 7.1):
1. It is well known that Vista is installed on a partition in NTST format, and the GHOST restore image file restores the partition format at the same time. The question is: Do you need to format the pre-installed system partition before installation? Also: Can you directly perform the installation after formatting the pre-installed system partition using the format command?
2. Which software should be loaded after booting into DOS to support the installation process?

Hehe, didn't expect that someone has already made a clone disk of Vista. I don't know if there are any restrictions. As far as I know, Vista has tampered with the MBR, so it's恐怕not likely to boot up directly by restoring like this.

Ghost can directly restore the file system of the partition, so there's no need to pre - format. As long as Ghost can run, there's no need to load other programs in DOS.

Thanks to netizen Climbing!

The reasons why we request support are based on three points:
1. Not very familiar with MS-DOS 7.1;
2. Never used NTSF;
3. Not well understood about VISTA (used the trial version).

We think:
1. Since MS-DOS 3.X to XP, all can be installed using DOS; and it still has DOS boot files in Vista, so it is not completely obsolete;
2. Entering ghost, it should be in the DOS field - solving it using DOS methods should not be difficult;
3. Challenging Microsoft - a fortunate thing!
Installing a second-rate VISTA in DOS mode is not a glorious thing - the important thing is: it should prove that DOS is still powerful in the process of breaking through Microsoft's monopoly!
Brother Climbing mentioned MBR, is it the system sector boot code? We will pay attention - the process between "automatic installation~" and GHOST is worthy of attention.
However, GHOST 8.3 is not trustworthy for mirroring large data files; 2003 seems better!

Unless you use the Ghost method, it is impossible to install Vista under DOS. Vista needs at least a PE based on 2003 to start the installation, and it must be installed on an NTFS partition.

Others, I don't understand what the LZ is talking about.

It is entirely possible to process the MBR with batch or something else before or after ghost.

Just look at the batch script of this ghost disk to know.

I really don't know if GHOST installing the system has any impact on hardware. It's best to burn to a disc.
Wait until the CR-RW is broken, and then plan to buy a Samsung Gold General DVD-RW.

Dear Climbing~
I encountered some small issues when installing VISTA before, and I thought it was because the NTFS partition format of VISTA was different from XP~ Now seeing you mention the MBR issue~~ I really want to know, (I also want to make a universal GHOST of VISTA, for work use)

Please teach me how Vista makes changes in the MBR? How to solve it?

Vista didn't tamper with the MBR, just that BCD recognizes the MBR, and you can't randomly change the hard drive

Vista did not interfere with the MBR. It's just that BCD recognizes the MBR, and you can't casually replace the hard drive.

It seems that it's not just a matter of not being able to replace the hard drive?
After running fdisk /mbr, it can't boot anymore, and you need to repair it. It should be that specific information is written into the MBR.
