I used utraedit to change timeout 0 in the menu.lst embedded in grldr to timeout 10 (edited in hex),
and then the system wouldn't boot. Could it be that changing it this way damages the file? Why can't it be changed directly? |

There is already an official command-line tool, grubmenu, for modifying the built-in menu. Check the official website more often.
