A New Generation Elementary School Student's Model Essay

Every Monday morning, I am especially excited, because Monday is the day when the school holds the solemn flag-raising ceremony. Of course today was no exception. After breakfast, I happily walked on the road to school. The weather was very good today. A few white clouds floated in the vast cloudless sky. The streets were full of busy traffic, and I felt that our life was incomparably wonderful.

Suddenly, it seemed that my foot was tripped by something. I lowered my head and looked. Ah! Who dropped this UNIKA Supai 5218 graphics card here?

I bent down and picked it up, holding it in my hand, not knowing what to do. It seemed like two little people appeared in my mind. The one on the left said, “Haha, what good luck today, you picked up something good, hurry and take it to school with you.” The little person on the right immediately said, “No, the person who lost this must be very anxious. You should wait here and see whether anyone comes looking for it.” The little person on the left said again, “How stupid. Aren’t you still using integrated 815 graphics now? Look at school, your classmates are all using Little Demon G 9818. How great would it be if you had this in your hand!” The little person on the right retorted, “If you pick something up, you should return it to its owner. That’s what the teacher taught us. If you don’t do that, then you aren’t a good child.” They argued back and forth like this, leaving me not knowing whom to listen to. At last, I thought of Uncle Lei Feng’s glorious image, and I decided to stay here and wait for the owner to come find me.

After a while, an uncle walked over with an anxious expression. Looking at him glancing left and right, as if searching for something, I immediately stepped forward and asked, “Uncle, did you lose something?”

The uncle said anxiously, “Yes, yes.”

I asked again, “Then what did you lose?”

The uncle said, “I lost my graphics card.”

I immediately asked, “What does your graphics card look like?”

The uncle replied, “My graphics card has 128M of video memory, uses NVIDIA’s reference board design, uses a display chip labeled NVIDIA NV34, and it even has a round cooling fan!

Then he added, “It’s an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 engineering sample.”

After saying all this, the uncle seemed to notice something and asked, “Did you happen to see my graphics card?”

I shook my head regretfully and said, “I did pick up a graphics card, but it wasn’t the one you lost. Did you maybe drop it somewhere else? Please look around some more.”

Hearing this, the uncle left disappointed.

So I continued waiting by the roadside. At this time, I looked at my watch. It was already almost eight o’clock, and the flag-raising ceremony was about to begin. Although I was anxious as fire burned in my heart, I thought that the owner must be even more anxious than I was. In order to return the item to its owner, missing one flag-raising ceremony would still be worth it. I believed the teacher would surely forgive me. Thinking this, I became even more determined, standing by the roadside and watchfully looking at the passersby.

Just then, an auntie came running over in a great hurry. She nervously looked at the ground, walking carefully step by step, as if searching for something.

I immediately walked over and asked, “Auntie, did you lose something?”

The auntie said excitedly, “Yes, yes, yes. Just now on my way to work, I accidentally lost my graphics card. Little friend, did you see it?”

I continued asking, “Then what did the graphics card you lost look like? Can you describe it?”

The auntie replied, “My graphics card is a GeForce FX 5200 using a red PCB board. It uses 128MB 5ns video memory, and only uses a heatsink for cooling, without a cooling fan.” After saying this, she added, “Oh right, my graphics card also provides a DVI connector and a video output connector!”

Then the auntie anxiously asked, “Did you see my graphics card?”

I shook my head and replied, “Auntie, I did pick up a graphics card, but it isn’t on a red PCB board, and it uses fan cooling, so it probably isn’t the one you lost. Please go look somewhere else.”

After hearing what I said, the auntie left very disappointed.

Later, several people came looking for the graphics cards they had lost, but none of them matched the one I had picked up. So I just kept standing by the roadside, waiting and waiting. Just like that, the sky slowly grew dark.

Looking at the sun that was about to set behind the mountains, I became even more anxious and wanted to leave, but then I thought again of Chairman Mao’s teaching: the meaning of serving the people surpasses all else. Wasn’t my waiting here for the owner also serving the people? With that, I became even more determined to keep waiting.

Very soon, the sky gradually filled with countless twinkling stars. It was already the time when ten thousand household lights were shining, but I still stood there waiting. I believed that the owner would surely come back.

After a very, very long time, an old granny came walking along the road. She walked with halting steps, wearing a big black cotton-padded jacket, trembling and tottering, especially conspicuous in the darkness. Her expression was very anxious, and with every step she glanced at the ground once, seeming to search for something.

I quickly walked over and asked, “Granny, did you lose something?”

The granny replied anxiously, “Yes. I came into town today to assemble a computer. It’s hard enough for me to come into town once, but while walking on the road, I accidentally dropped my graphics card somewhere. I’ve been looking for it all day and still haven’t found it. What am I supposed to do now?” After saying this, the granny began to cry in her anxiety.

I hurriedly comforted the granny, saying, “Granny, don’t worry. Tell me what the graphics card you lost looks like. Maybe I can help you find it!”

The granny replied, “My graphics card uses 128MB 4ns 128bit DDR video memory, adopts an optimized layout for more stable operation, fully supports DirectX 9.0 and OpenGL 1.4, uses a fan for cooling, and there is a huge UNIKA logo in the middle of the fan. There is also a UNIKA anti-counterfeit label with an electronic code on the graphics card’s box. It’s a genuine product from UNIKA’s authorized sales channels!”

She added, “Its model is Supai 5218.”

I asked excitedly, “Then does your graphics card have any other markings?”

The granny replied, “Yes. The display chip on my graphics card is a true retail-version GeForceFX 5200 chip, labeled ‘nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200,’ different from the engineering sample chips labeled ‘nVIDIA NV34’ used on other 5200 graphics cards. You can tell at a glance.” She took out a handkerchief and wiped her tears again, then said, “Also, it has a very large heatsink, so I wrote the character ‘王’ on the heatsink in red pen.”

I secretly took out the graphics card I had picked up and tried removing the heatsink to look at the display chip. Sure enough, it was different from the engineering sample chip labeled “NVIDIA NV34.” I then carefully picked up the wing-shaped heatsink and looked. Sure enough, there really was a red character 王 written on it.

It seemed that this really was the one the granny had lost, so without hesitation I took out the Supai 5218, handed it to the granny, and said, “Granny, this is what I picked up this morning. Please take a look and see whether anything is missing.”

Looking at the recovered graphics card and then at me, the granny was so excited that she didn’t know what to say. After a while, she asked, “Thank you, little friend, you... what is your name?”

I smiled slightly and said, “Just call me a Young Pioneer.” After saying that, I turned and walked away.

After walking for a while, I looked back and saw that the granny was still standing there watching me. In the red glow of the setting sun, crystal tears flickered in her eyes. I smiled at the granny, and looking at the sunset, I suddenly felt how fulfilling my day had been! Although I had missed one flag-raising ceremony, how worthwhile the lesson from this matter had been.

Ah, let us all work hard together, study our cultural knowledge well, and when we grow up make our due contribution to the Four Modernizations!

Haha.... I don't think this is an elementary school student at all... it's a mentally deficient hardware expert..
