If it's just a plain batch file,
it's very easy to make, but the functionality isn't strong enough,
and I've cracked that kind of thing several times before, although not with 100% success.
Because a batch file can be terminated midway, the security still isn't enough.

Why don't you just set a BIOS password instead?

I have 2 similar methods! Don't know whether they'll be of use to you!
1 Use a simulated logic lock! That way you yourself keep a floppy disk! Insert the floppy and reboot the machine before you can enter the system! Of course you should have several floppies of your own, and better-quality ones!
2 Your system should have a graphical interface, right! Win98 has to read the file win.com before it can enter the graphical interface! You just need to change its name!

How exactly do you do that? Doesn't some kind of USB flash drive do this now too?

No! Right now there is a set of software online! 2 files in total! It's called the Jiangmin Bomb Logic Lock! It's the bomb from the once very famous KV series! The current one is simulated! That means it only locks the hard disk and doesn't damage the files on your hard disk! So it has some teaching value! There's also another file, maybe called rouce! I can't remember! It's for restoring! As long as you use that simulated bomb on your hard disk, the machine won't boot anymore! Of course that's under MS-DOS; as for the others, for DOS you need to look at W's logic lock testing chapter! Remember to first put that rouce file onto a floppy disk! When you want to use the machine yourself, insert the floppy first! Set boot from drive A in BIOS! Then start the machine! After a little while characters will appear! Then take the floppy out! Set BIOS to boot from C! Then start the machine again and you can enter the system! In other words, it has been restored! And the USB drive you mentioned is similar to a dongle method! It has to detect certain hardware, and that hardware's BIOS also has to contain the files needed to boot the machine, then the machine can boot!
