I made a slim version of MSCLIENT with VPC/VMware network card drivers in this section last time, which is very easy to use and switch. The VPCNET.DOS inside is the network card driver under VPC, and VMNET.DOS is the network card driver under VMware. See: http://www.zhenlove.com.cn/cndos/soft/vmnet.zip
