I'm using Neimao to access the internet, and the MODEM is on the PCI slot. According to what the moderator said, I still can't connect using the LSPPP dial-up method. The command is as follows: LSPPP /n:3 /d:163 /U:szwy /P:******. Please guide the moderators.

After dialing, the following information appears:
connecting to network.. lcp:can't estabish connection can't connect. driver not going resident I can connect under the DOS prompt of WIN2000, but not under pure DOS or the DOS window of WIN98. Also, my account and password are both more than 8 characters long. I don't know if it's because long filenames are not supported. |

If you are using a winmodem (so-called soft modem), don't expect it. Unless there are special drivers (it seems there are more under Linux), otherwise other operating systems besides Windows simply can't be used.

Mine is a hard modem. It's a Longwei 56HCF, and the main chip is CONEXANT.

LSPPP said that if it can't connect, it's probably a problem with the settings or the network.

Is it that the port parameters used are incorrect? Because the port virtualized by the DOS window of Win2K is different from the actual one.

You can first use software like COMTEST to see the COM number and IRQ number where the MODEM is located, and then run LSPPP accordingly.

The length of the username and password exceeding 8 characters will of course not have any impact on LSPPP. The length of the file name is a different matter. COMTEST can be downloaded in the CuteMouse package.

There is no COM3 under DOS. Under Windows, COM3 is a virtual one of COM1. Try changing 3 to 1!
