I didn't think of a good title, so I just wrote something casually. I think everyone should still work together to make this forum good first. If everyone fights on their own, then if the content is rich it's still okay, but if the content is the same, visitors may feel deceived. Looking at the forum, the main articles are mostly ones brother wengier posted a long time ago; there is very little new content. For example, Master Rushi's idea of setting up a sect is not bad, but it's still that same problem. I don't think we can find five experts here yet who can hold their own and also have plenty of free time, so my suggestion is that everyone should first build up some atmosphere here, and then make their own sites and put the links up.
btw Red Fantasy, I saw an article you wrote in the forum about partition tables and allocation tables. There are too many errors in it. Although it's pushed pretty far back, the ones in front are mostly wengier's articles that everyone has already read. When people keep flipping forward, they get to yours. You'd better revise it. For newbies it's misleading; for old hands, it will make them doubt the strength of the whole forum. I don't mean to target you, don't misunderstand. If you're unhappy, curse me on qq: 148316959

The OP's comments on the current state of the forum are absolutely right! The view that we should first make the atmosphere here more active also makes a lot of sense. Could you further expand on this suggestion of making the forum atmosphere more active? In other words, what suggestions or concrete methods does the OP have for making the forum more active and increasing its popularity?

anyhow moderator please look: actually I'm talking big without having to do the work myself. I think every moderator has already done his best for the forum. Actually I really do feel that everyone has been too good, so I'm just pouring a little cold water on things. Mainly I feel that there's nothing wrong with everyone making their own websites now, but the results may not necessarily be good, like Red Fantasy and Master Rushi; I've already said why once. As for the forum's popularity, I think we should still start with ourselves and write more new, exciting articles. That will naturally attract people. Since what we're promoting is DOS, to be honest, not many people use it, and in many respects it isn't as convenient as Windows. People who are starting to use computers now probably don't even know 98, they only know XP. I think it's the same principle: what can 98 use to attract people? I think it's the lower level, because DOS and 98 are closer to the system's lower layers and easier to control. So I think we should play to our strengths and avoid our weaknesses, and do more on the system low-level side, so that more people can understand how computers actually work and how we can control them. Actually Master Rushi is already doing this now. It would just be better if there were more original articles like this, (again, easy for me to say without having to do the work) and most importantly, newbies could improve quickly.
My idea is that although DOS is certainly the main theme, Win98 is closely connected to it, so there is no need to reject it too much. If the moderators write one or two pieces of心得 every week, no matter how much, and if brother wengier could write out his boot disk experience bit by bit, then the beginner side would be fine.
As for Chinese localization, I don't really want to say much, because I feel Chinese localization under DOS doesn't mean much, (again emphasizing that this is just my personal view) because localization is for user convenience, and as for DOS users, well, I won't say more. From a technical point of view, we can't localize the kernel, we can only add fonts, and we also can't learn too much useful knowledge from it. It's still the same sentence: I think we should focus on our key projects. I think most people learning DOS now are doing so because their Windows has stopped working, and when it comes to disk operations, that's exactly DOS's strong point.
Boot disks are worth researching, though because Wuyou's CDs have a pretty good market now, maybe you look down on their technology and think it's copying MS, but the floppy drive era is going to end after all. Capacity is no longer a problem now. As for the other sections I won't say more, maybe someone is already going to smash me, but I still want to say that I think learning DOS and using DOS are different things. I hope everyone approaches it with an attitude of research, and at the very least doesn't refuse to answer any Windows-related questions. I'm deeply moved by everyone's determination to promote DOS, but looking at the latest development of DOS, promoting its technology and its spirit, not necessarily its product, isn't that also promotion? One last thing: I have a lot of respect for all the moderators; if I have offended anyone, it is because my wording was inappropriate.

OP, your suggestion is not bad, but there is one point I want to explain. The forum is called "China DOS Union"; at a glance you can tell it is for discussing DOS. But that doesn't mean we are rejecting the WINDOWS system. We also have WINDOWS sections, but if we open too many such sections, wouldn't that be "hanging up a sheep's head while selling dog meat"? It fundamentally wouldn't match the name of our forum!! And 98 is only DOS's GUI anyway, so I think studying 98 is not as good as studying DOS.

The OP's view is absolutely right.... Why do we love DOS? Because it is highly transparent, unlike today's win, which has become completely unrecognizable under layer upon layer of patches... Why do we use DOS? Because it is simple, so it is closer to reality.... Why do we study DOS? Because it is clean and neat yet powerful; any third-party program based on the DOS kernel can fit with it seamlessly....... Why should we promote DOS? Because it can swiftly solve any problems that win cannot solve..
These are the four major characteristics of DOS that I once mentioned: "simple, clean, clear, fast." So I think: the spirit of DOS may be even more worth developing than DOS itself...... What the OP said is also exactly what I want to do.......
I completely accept the OP's criticism... However, because there have been many things in the development of the website that could not be controlled, the result now is that the forum has become dominant... which does not quite match the meaning of the word "Union"... so I built a website. On the one hand, it was my first time coming into contact with making webpages, and I wanted to learn some stuff... On the other hand, I also wanted the Union to match its name and reality, and have a situation where a hundred flowers bloom.... The OP's recognition of my work moved me very much. It shows that the direction I'm taking has been acknowledged by everyone... Let's all study together and make progress together...

青云碧空在,净瓶水不流。

Master Rushi is being too modest. I understand what you mean. That's right, a "Union" really should mean letting a hundred flowers contend. I visited your homepage, but personally I felt it was a bit too flashy. I think maybe since it was your first time making webpages, you wanted to try out all kinds of effects!
Actually I was preparing this thread as a reply to Red Fantasy's question about making webpages, (and it made me think of you too, Master) but by accident I pressed the wrong thing and made a new thread. When I discovered it in the afternoon, anyhow moderator had already replied, so there was nothing I could do and I just left it here. Actually, with Master's ability, you can stand on your own, so I think the content on your homepage should be able to complement what's here. What I'm worried about is our little brother Kuangxiang. I mentioned it above too: he's very enthusiastic, but sometimes he answers before he has fully figured out the problem. I'm afraid that if a warm-hearted friend like him makes a homepage, but doesn't have too much original content, or comes out with that kind of huge blunder again, that wouldn't be good. In the end, everyone is doing this for the common progress of the forum, so let's work hard!
