My computer doesn't have a floppy drive, but I want to turn your site's "Homemade MS-DOS 7.10 Boot Disk" into a bootable CD so I can boot the machine into pure DOS.

I have a SONY burner, burning software: NERO 5, operating system: WIN XP, blank CD/R discs

I really am too stupid!
I've already ruined several CD/Rs while experimenting,
and I only have the last three left in my hand, so I really don't dare burn them casually by myself anymore...
Could the leaders, experts, and kind friends on this site please patiently teach me in detail, step by step, how to do it?

1. Make it into a bootable floppy disk.
2. Put in the floppy disk and open NERO 5.
3. In "New Compilation" choose: CDROM (Boot), use the default settings, and click the "New" button.
4. Add the files you need to burn, then burn it like an ordinary CD. (Don't tell me you don't even know how to burn a normal CD)

Also, I heard XP and nero have some compatibility problems! And some versions of nero will randomly make bad discs! That is, bad on purpose! That's what I heard, don't know if it's true or not! Seems like you have to add an XP patch first!

I don't support using nero directly to make a boot CD. The boot CDs made by nero aren't clean, a lot of stuff gets mixed into them. You can first use other tools to make a bootable CD ISO, then use nero to burn it.

Try opening it with WINIMG and then saving it again. That way you can get an IMG file for CD booting. Then you can use NERO to burn it and won't need a floppy disk.
If you're under DOS, you can use IMGDRIVE to emulate it as a floppy and load the image file, then use GETBTIMG to make a floppy image for CD booting.

wglwx, I know the method you mentioned, but don't forget, it's exactly because I don't have a 1.44 floppy drive that I'm having this trouble.

mys, thanks for your post. I immediately downloaded the Chinese edition of WINIMG 5.0 and found that it really is good stuff.

First I used WINIMG to open the MSDOS710.img file in Wengier's homemade Super MS-DOS 7.10 Boot Disk archive.
I found there are 83 files in it altogether.
What then? You said save it, but how exactly should I do that?
Should I choose -- File ----> Save As ----> Compressed image file (*.imz)?
Or File ----> Save As ----> Image file (*.ima)?
Or Disk ----> Create CDRom Iso image ----> select the burner's drive letter, set the ISO image file name, and click OK?

Which of the above three is it? Or none of them? Could someone please tell me?

Start NER, choose CD-ROM (Boot),
the burning software won't be able to find a floppy disk,
select the image file option,
