I came in to study the WINPE of Lao Jiu and others and found that his PE file is in IMG format. But how is this IMG generated?
This IMG contains system files and can be directly booted and started by grldr, but it is not a bootable image file itself. With PeBuilder, I can also generate an ISO format PE and start it successfully, but that is just a simple ISO image, and there is no built-in IMG/ISO image inside. Can someone with expertise tell me the production process of the IMG type PE?

IMG is the core file of PE. It is created with VDM and then files are copied into it, which is very convenient.

GRLDR does not directly boot this image. Instead, it boots through the configuration file to load setupldr.bin -> ntdetect.com -> return to setupldr.bin -> read the installation information file to load files or image files -> load drivers according to the hardware information returned by txtsetup.sif in the IMG and ntdetect.com ->...

This image is not used for booting, so there is no need to add a boot file.

The IMG here is pressed with the IMGIT software.

First, make a pure system disk of WINPE on the computer, and then compress it into an IMG file with IMGIT.

Then put it into your storage medium.
