I posted about this before too. I remember the site admin replied that under dos7.10 you can play the DOS version of Legend of Sword and Fairy, including music and sound effects (I think sound effects are the hardest problem to deal with). You just have to solve the runtime error 200 problem.
But I used slowdown to solve the runtime error 200 problem and was able to run install, yet there is still no sound effect.
The exact behavior is that after the softstar logo appears:
check cdrom .....ok
XMS ....ok
FM ...ok
Then it goes straight into the game. I know there should also be a voice ...ok, and that is the sound effect, but it just isn't there.
I used the set command to check the environment, and it is as follows:
blaster = A240 I5 D0 H7 P300 T6
(I remember my old machine's SB16 sound card seemed to be A220 I5 D0 H5 P300 T6)
In install I set it to IO port 220 IRQ 7, and there is no sound effect.
But when I set it to IO port 220 IRQ 5 (my old machine was set like this, and had sound effects), it always hangs.
Why? Please teach me, experts.

If you are playing it in DOS mode under win98se, then right-click
C:\pal\pal.exe
and choose "Memory", then reduce EMS and XMS a bit. They must not exceed 32m.

I think your IRQ is conflicting.
