Why can't I install WINDOWS XP from DOS booted with grub for DOS?

The DOS boot disk image is on c:, and the WINDOWS backup files are on d:

Every time I install WINDOWS XP, it stops at copying the setup files, with no response for a long time, and the hard disk light stays on the whole time
How do I solve this?

Sorry, I can't answer this, but I seem to think you can start the installer directly from Windows.

What I'm asking about is installing WINDOWS from DOS when WINDOWS can't be entered...

This seems to have nothing to do with grub for DOS~
Install WINDOWS from DOS
X:\i386\winnt.exe

Yeah, that's what I'm using, the winnt command, but when the installer says it is copying the files needed for setup, it stops responding for a long time, while the hard disk light stays on all the time

I guess your hard drive is damaged. I suggest formatting it under pure DOS with format without the /s parameter; if it still does not respond for a long time, that means the hard drive has bad sectors~

If smartdrv is not loaded, copying will be very slow. It is also quite possible that the problem is with the system installation disc; I ran into that before, and it turned out to be the system installation disc.

I guess this is a mistake newbies often make
