If I choose to load SMARTDRV, after the RAM drive is created, everything becomes sluggish (characters come out too slowly), and running programs also becomes sluggish. PC-CACHE has no such problem.

After I partitioned the disk with FDISK, without formatting the partitions, after rebooting it could no longer create the RAM drive. It asks me to choose Abort, Retry, Fail.

What you said about the first problem is quite true! So I set it to boot PC-CACHE by default.

I don't quite understand the second problem. Can you explain it in more detail?

I used FDISK to partition the disk. After partitioning, I didn't format any of the partitions, then after rebooting and booting from the boot disk, it couldn't create the RAM drive. It asked me to choose Abort,Retry,Fail? No matter which one I chose, it still couldn't create the RAM drive. After formatting, it could create the RAM drive.

What does partitioning have to do with a RAM drive?
On a machine without a hard disk, you can still create a RAM drive, as long as there is memory.

XMSDSK can display the drive letter of the RAM drive, but it cannot create the RAM drive.

The following is quoted from 12345q's post at 2003-5-20 21:57:15:
XMSDSK can display the drive letter of the RAM drive, but it cannot create the RAM drive.

When you put it that way, I really don't quite understand. Please explain in detail, okay??

I just used PQ and FDISK myself to create an unformatted partition (drive G), but when I booted with my MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk, I didn't find any problem at all. Could it be that it only happens if drive C is unformatted?
