The options F5, Shift+F5, and Shift+F8:

F5: Safe mode (安全模式)

Shift+F5: Command prompt (命令提示符)

Shift+F8: Step-by-step confirmation (逐步确认)

The differences from options 1, 2, 3, 4: Options 1 - 4 are different startup configurations, while F5, Shift+F5, Shift+F8 are different boot mode selections to adjust the startup environment: F5 enters safe mode to start with fewer drivers and services loaded; Shift+F5 enters the command prompt mode to start and directly enter the command line interface; Shift+F8 enters step-by-step confirmation mode to confirm each startup step.

Windows ME boot disk, selection page.

Who can explain: There are already 1. 2. 3. 4. Why are there still F5=Safe mode, Shift+F5=Command prompt, Shift+F8=Step-by-step confirmation?

It means safe mode, that is to say: only the most basic programs required by WINDOWS are run, and no other enhanced programs are loaded.

Thanks to the above.

Shift+F5 is to enter command prompt mode, is F5 and 4. Minimal Boot not command prompt mode?

F5 is safe mode, is Shift+F5 and 4. Minimal Boot not safe mode?

I don't know what the differences are among "F5", "Shift+F5", and "4. Minimal Boot"? Is there a problem of repetition?

I tried, and all three of them quickly enter the DOS command line state.

What is safe mode?
Is it safe mode if config.sys and Autoexec.bat are not loaded?

CD-ROM DOS boot. Since it can already read the CD-ROM and run programs on the CD-ROM, why load the CD-ROM driver?

If you boot DOS from a CD-ROM, it is the BIOS that plays a role. After booting, if you need to use the CD-ROM drive, you still need to load the CD-ROM drive driver.
