Dear all experts:

I am a novice. After I randomly optimized with Windows Optimizer and randomly deleted redundant files, etc., after restarting the machine, I got: when accessing the boot sector file multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partirion(1)\\\\BOOTSECT.DOS, an I/O error occurred, and I couldn't enter the system. Then I restarted and pressed F8, selected normal startup, there were two options. When I selected DOC, it was still the same. After selecting the Windows XP system, it booted up.

Please, dear experts, give me some advice on how to directly enter the WINDOWS system after startup. Thank you!!!!!

Hey, the consequence of being too hasty.
Since it's the result of messing around with Windows Optimization Master, why not mess around with it to fix it?
Run Optimization Master -> System Performance Optimization -> Boot Speed Optimization -> In the "Windows XP Default Boot Sequence Selection" column, select the Windows XP item.
If you understand it better, you can directly modify the boot.ini file in the root directory of drive C.

Thanks to the great expert upstairs, I got it, sir. If I want to modify the boot.ini file under the C drive, how to make the change??? I've searched for a long time and dug out all hidden files, but didn't find that file. Could it be in another place???

Heheh, the boot.ini file is a system file. To see it, you need to uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" in "View" under "Folder Options".

The following is the content of my boot.ini file with comments:

[boot loader]
timeout=3 ; Here, 3 means the display waiting time of the startup menu is 3 seconds.
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS ; This line indicates the default startup item. Please note that the content after the equal sign should be consistent with one of the contents before the equal sign in the following two lines.
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /execute /fastdetect
C:\="MS-DOS"

Okay, got it, learned something. That file was a read-only file. I unchecked the read-only attribute in properties and then made the change. Is that okay? / Thanks again, big shot, heh heh.
