News flash:
According to Reuters, Alaska's Anchorage Daily News reported that recently, in the skies over southwestern Alaska, a “super giant bird” the size of a light aircraft was seen flying past. This has left scientists greatly puzzled.
Quoting some eyewitnesses living in the local villages of Togiak and Manokotak, the paper said that this “super giant bird” had a wingspan of 14 feet—in other words, it was about the size of a light aircraft.
“At first I thought it was an old-fashioned Otter plane,” 43-year-old Togiak villager Moses Koopcheck told reporters. “It didn’t come straight at me, but turned to the left—only then did I realize it wasn’t a plane.”
Koopcheck also said that he saw the giant bird finally disappear behind the mountains, after which he used his cellphone to notify the villagers, warning everyone not to let children stay outdoors for safety's sake.
Pilot Booker is also a local resident. He reported that recently, while flying a plane, he too saw a super giant bird pass through the air about 1000 feet away. He said with certainty that all the passengers on the plane saw it as well. He exclaimed, “It was really, really huge. Seeing it filled me with fear.”
Alaska's largest daily reported that scientists fully believe the local residents really did witness this winged monster, but they find the claimed size of the giant bird hard to believe. Bird expert Zimov joked, “Even if I were extremely ignorant, there’s no way I would know absolutely nothing about the existence, over the past 100,000 years, of a super giant bird with a wingspan of 14 feet!
