I converted Win98 into WinXP, but now none of the DOS utility programs I wrote myself can display or input Chinese characters. What should I do? Many thanks!

Does it still not work even after loading a DOS Chinese character support system?

Sorry, I was busy for a while just now and didn't reply in time! I've looked for a lot of DOS Chinese character support systems online, but most of them are past the date limit and can no longer be used. I'm especially fond of the MSDOS7.X version—how do I install it? Please!

The following is quoted from hujun's post on 2003-5-13 17:22:46:

I don't quite understand this sentence...
As for the second question, in what environment do you want to install it?

If you want to install MS-DOS 7.x, download the MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk I made; after booting, just transfer it to the hard disk.

Hello everyone!
I benefited a lot from Wengier's suggestion, but what I want is to be able to start DOS programs anytime after WinXP has booted, and Chinese support becomes a big problem. Just now I downloaded the full Chinese edition of MSdos622 from your site, size 9.971Mb. I thought everything would be fine, but when I ran Setup, it said the application could not read or write the WinXP hard disk and could not support that system's hard disk. I was dumbfounded and at a complete loss! I beg for more detailed help! Many thanks!

The DOS system in WinXP does not support the vast majority of DOS6.22 and DOS7.0/7.1 applications. I advise you to go back to using them under the DOS of WIN98!
This is part of Microsoft's plan, and it's very hard to change (or crack?)—it's not just a problem of the Chinese character support system.
