The special forces of the DPRK have more killing skills than the US Navy SEALs, and the number is so large that it can form a small city. The US military estimates that the number of special forces in the DPRK exceeds 100,000, far more than any other country in the world. Each of them is very capable, and one person can deal with several people with bare hands. It is said that as long as they have a sniper rifle, they can solve multiple moving targets within 200 meters in 15 seconds. If they cannot complete the task, according to their training, they have to commit suicide on the spot.
A member of the DPRK's special forces who defected to freedom in the 1960s said that if a war breaks out between the north and the south of the Korean Peninsula, the task of the DPRK's special forces is to set off wars simultaneously all over South Korea. The US government is eager to resolve the DPRK nuclear crisis through diplomatic channels mainly because the strength of the DPRK's military is amazing, not just because of concern about missiles.
The latest issue of "Threat and Balance Presentation" by the US Army analyzing the situation in the possible war zone predicts that if a full-scale war breaks out on the Korean Peninsula, it is expected that at least 50,000 DPRK special forces will land behind the coalition forces' front line. They may land by small submarines or by helicopters disguised as South Korean aircraft or canvas biplanes that can avoid radar. A US military officer stationed in South Korea said: "Their camouflage and deception techniques are world-class."
The DPRK's special forces are even dangerous in peacetime. In 1968, they launched the boldest attack, sending a 31-person assassination team to attempt to assassinate then South Korean President Park Chung-hee. Among them, 28 died in a gun battle near Cheong Wa Dae, one was captured, and the remaining two returned to the DPRK. According to Japanese journalist Kei Tani who is proficient in DPRK military issues, one of the two who returned to the DPRK was shot with his belly and intestines flowing out, and actually walked the whole way with his hand pressing the wound.
