Today I want to make a data recovery disk, putting NDD, DISKEDIT, UNERASE of NU2002 on it. Because the volume is really too large, so I formatted the floppy disk to 1.68M with HD-COPY, finally put them in and it booted successfully, but the burned bootable CD said IO error and couldn't be used. Making the bootable IMG file with GETBTIMG also didn't succeed. So I suggest that if conditions permit, it's better to make a bootable CD, and use the 1.44M standard format.

It should work in the format of 2.88MB, although I haven't successfully tested it yet

The bootable CD only supports two formats: 1.44M or 2.88M.
It is suggested to compress into CAB format. The size of these four files is 2033K before compression and 710K after compression, then extract to the virtual memory disk to execute. Using the 1.44M format is sufficient.

It's wrong. You can use boot image files of any size. Have you ever tried the boot image files of Acronis series software? They are all about 5M, but you need to boot with BCDW.

The three files add up to more than 800K after compression respectively. Recommend a good floppy drive emulation software, ramdisknt15. I didn't see where to attach files. Everyone can search online. It can simulate 1.44, 2.88, and hard disks. The effect is quite good.

This is a bootable disk. NDD, DISKEDIT, and UNERASE cannot be compressed with UPX and so on. So the only way is to expand the capacity, but after expansion, it can only be used for floppy disk booting and cannot be made into a CD. That's all.

Using unerase is not as good as using w0rm's UnDelete V0.83 Beta. The size is only 5K!

The machines in our unit have a 2.88M floppy drive, but it's installed on an industrial machine... As for the I/O error, it might be due to incompatibility with the motherboard. (I also had problems when formatting with the standard 1.44M format) The size of the virtual floppy disk doesn't seem to be an issue. Also, the ramdisknt15 mentioned above is quite good. It's used in the Windows environment. There are more virtual floppy drives under DOS.

NDD and others can be compressed into ZIP files, only half the size left. The master like this did it according to the method I said.

Just add it directly to ebd.cab. The compression ratio of cab is much higher than that of zip!
