If you can't use emm386, then use umbpci. This is in real mode, and I'm using it.

You need to set it up yourself. Even for umbpci without parameters, you need to make adjustments in config.sys and autoexec.bat. Load UMB if possible, don't load it if not, and only load necessary network protocols, etc.

Only use the IPX connection in msclient 3.0 for the local area network, which occupies very little memory. The other two protocols occupy more memory.
Or install the client of Novell 4.11 with the ODI driver, and there are also more conventional memories.
