Anyhow's Suggestions on the Forum's Development

After spending two days on the forum, besides being moved by the moderators' spirit of total dedication and willingness to contribute (especially Wengier, Master Rushi, and dark-destroy, to name the most prominent. In no particular order, hehe!), I also noticed some areas that still need improvement and refinement. Over the next few days, I will be putting forward my own suggestions one after another. Of course, since these are only my personal suggestions, there will inevitably be some bias, so I ask the moderators and friends here to correct me in time and take this as a reference. If we do that, the forum's future development will surely be brighter than ever!

Suggestion 1: About the forum's page layout

The first time I visited the forum, I had this feeling: the page layout is a bit top-heavy. I specially attached an image to explain this problem (my screen resolution is 1024x768, browsing in a window). From the image, you can see that the width of those 9 lines of text takes up almost 2/3 of the whole window width, with the result that whenever I open a webpage, the first thing I see is not the post titles, but those 9 lines of text (my browser window takes up about 3/4 of the whole screen)! Just think, if other friends have browsing habits like mine (or only use 800x600 resolution), then what they see will be the same as what I see (or even worse)! This gives people an unpleasant feeling! Most people are emotional by nature. If they feel uncomfortable the first time, I'm afraid they may never visit our forum again. Worse still, they may very likely mention this to their friends, and then this kind of mouth to mouth publicity will cause us to lose many potential members. That will undoubtedly hinder the forum's development!

Certainly, promotion on our webpage is very important! But at the same time, we should also take into account the webpage's appearance and practicality! Because people are naturally drawn to beautiful things. My suggestion is: the 9 lines of text can stay as they are, but the font size and line spacing need to be adjusted. I took a rough look, and if those 9 lines can be adjusted to the same width as the logo image on the left, or just slightly wider, that would be more appropriate. On the one hand, this gives us a larger viewing area; on the other hand, it also strengthens the overall unity of the webpage.

Although this is my first time making a suggestion, I still hope all friends here can sincerely speak their minds. Because our goal is the same!

Hmm, I also opened a separate thread in the chatter section to bring this issue up for discussion too......

My feeling is that we should directly use the LOGO to replace the four characters "China DOS Union," but moderator Wengier said this kind of adjustment isn't supported. Someone had brought up anyhow's suggestion before too, but I think the forum just doesn't support adjusting the homepage layout!!

I'll go modify the font then, that can be done.

Also, DD can consider adding some caption text into that LOGO graphic and placing it automatically on the left side of the screen, so it won't take up more space. Especially the text www.cn-dos.net can be changed to dosbbs.2ya.com.

It's already much better! Thanks, wengier. But could we enable the logo from the "Site Announcements & Moderator Discussion" section? (As shown in the image.) This logo takes up less space, and the moving part can also attract members' attention. If we use this logo, at least 7 thread subjects can be seen

The changes are very good, but could "Leading you into a brand-new age of DOS" be added? Because this is the spirit of our "China DOS Union," while "Unite DOS, Develop DOS, Promote DOS" is our mission.
