Programming under DOS relies on excellent compilers like MASM, TC 2.0, BC 3.1, QB, etc.

For DJGPP programming to become popular, efforts should be made in the IDE aspect. Always using GCC, TLink is not a long - term solution!

(1) Up to now, using DJGPP + Dos is not as good as directly using Linux, unless the IDE problem is solved!

(2) For any programming and development under DOS, it is best not to abandon excellent compilers like MASM, TC 2.0, BC 3.1, QB, etc.

It is not an exaggeration at all that programming under DOS is convenient precisely because of Borland's TC 2.0 and BC 3.1. Especially in the case that 95% of programmers today are Windows programmers, how to write better applications under DOS and which direction the programming should go is worth thinking about!

Regarding DOS programming, do not confront Windows, but fully absorb and use the essence of "Windows" to expand DOS. And use DOS mainly in the following aspects:
(1) Basic part of learning PC
(2) New disk installation, system recovery
(3) Learning programming, familiarizing with PC hardware programming
(4) Embedded applications
(5) Others

Although RHIDE isn't particularly easy to use, it's still an IDE, heh :)

RHIDE is already pretty good. The LZ said unless the IDE problem is solved. I don't know what that means.
