My laptop has no optical drive, and the XP system has crashed. I used RAR to split the XP disc image file into 7 parts and copied them to the D drive of the computer using a USB flash drive. If you previously had WinRAR installed on your system, try to enter DOS and run UNRAR.EXE under C:\Program Files\WinRAR. I'm not sure if this idea of a newbie like me is feasible.

That depends on what version of RAR you used for compression. If it's compressed with a high - version, it may not be able to be extracted with a low - version.
