Nowadays a lot of laptops use PCMCIA CD-ROM drives. If you don't have the drivers that came with the laptop, installing a system on a laptop is usually very troublesome. Could the moderator consider adding universal drivers for PCMCIA CD-ROM drives?

I think the most annoying thing when installing a system is dealing with laptops. A few days ago a friend bought a second-hand laptop, and it had no drivers at all. Booting from a floppy didn't support the external PCMCIA CD-ROM drive either. In the end there was no other way, so we had to take the machine apart, connect the laptop hard drive to a desktop with an adapter card, and only then got the system installed.

Same here, there's no way to drive an external PCMCIA CD-ROM.

PCMCIA devices can use drivers like CardSoft or CardWare, but unfortunately they are too large to fit on a floppy disk.

Can a boot disk specially for laptops be made? As long as it can boot PCMCIA and usb devices, it doesn't matter if it has fewer other functions. As for the problem of the software being too large, can it be solved by trimming, compression, and virtual disk methods?

But compression has its limits too...

Sorry, I'm new here, so I don't know the size of the CardSoft and CardWare driver files Wengier mentioned. But before I came here, I never imagined DOS boot disks could be made by everyone here into something so colorful
So making such a disk shouldn't be an impossible mission either~~ hehe, it's just that you experts probably don't have this kind of need, so maybe there's no motivation for it~~ |

In that case, then let's all give it a try together...

The compressed full working version of the latest CardWare 6.0 is 1.5MB! But the trimmed version isn't that big.
Also, does anyone have a registration code for CardWare 6.0? I only have its shareware version. |
