When I use FreeDOS, a problem occurs. When running GRUB in FreeDOS, the following prompt appears:

Using 1.0final and beta9src9 doesn't work. It's the combination of command.exe + kernel.sys.

But GRUB4DOS can be run with MS-DOS. Is this incompatible?

Please further explain whether the command is from Microsoft or comes with FreeDOS.

I checked the issue with FreeDOS, and it's not really a problem. I downloaded fdboot.img. When it boots up, there's a menu. You select

2. FreeDOS Safe Mode (don't load any drivers)

Then you can execute grub.exe after entering DOS.

Currently, GRUB4DOS only supports a simple environment with FreeDOS's kernel.sys plus a command.com. Loading any other device drivers or complex environments of TSR may cause failure. Even Himem and emm386 are not supported.

You might as well make a FreeDOS boot disk by yourself, which only contains these two files (and copy a grub.exe into it) and see if it works?

I first load the img of the FreeDOS kernel from GRUB4DOS, and then when running GRUB, the problem of the top floor still occurs or it directly restarts. Got it, you mean first run GRUB4DOS, then **boot and run FreeDOS on the emulated virtual disk**, and then there's a failure when entering GRUB. Currently, there's no support for FreeDOS in the emulation state. This function will be added later. Thanks.
