Question for moderator wengier: how to change that line DOS shows when it starts up, startign Dos6.22... if it is 7.1 then it is starting windows98.... I don't want this line to be displayed. Is that possible? And one more question, where do I change it? Many thanks. Use the pctools utility to open the io。sys file, choose edit, find the corresponding string, then after locating it modify and save.

After choosing option e, there is a find option. Execute it, enter characters such as starting　windows98 in the window, and after finding the address, modify and save it.

If you want it to display 98, then just use the one that comes with Win98. If you want 7.1, then use the one I'm using. Please don't mix them, because what has been modified is far more than just a tiny bit. So the IO.SYS from the DOS 7.1 that comes with Win98 and the IO.SYS in the MS-DOS 7.1 boot disk I made are no longer the same thing.

Hehe... modifying wengier's io, wengier won't be happy...
