Recently on my newly installed 845 motherboard, my instant Chinese-localization boot disk suddenly stopped working. xmsdsk hangs when creating the virtual disk. It just freezes there and won't exit. People on the Dudiao Forum have also brought up similar problems.
What exactly is going on? Could there really be a conflict? After careful testing, it turns out it was caused by loading the USB driver first. After removing the related lines from the config file, xmsdsk ran without any problem. But does that mean 845 motherboards just can't drive USB under DOS? This still needs further study. Once I have results, I'll come back and report to everyone. Also, there's another strange thing: a boot disk made with the romdos kernel can't load MOUSCLIP.EXE on this motherboard, otherwise it will hang too..... |

It seems the compatibility of the MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk I made is not a problem, because as long as you don't choose the USB option, it's fine. That way XMSDSK has absolutely no problem on these special motherboards.
