The download speed is very fast, reaching 150KB/S. It's the first edition, and I just finished installing it in a virtual machine.
The era of 98 is gone and will never come back; in a few more years it won't be so easy to find anymore!

There's one thing I don't understand: why does the old system Windows 98 support S-ATA, while the newer system XP doesn't and needs extra drivers? Could it be that technology is going backward?

I remember Emule had CWIN98SE, and it supports SATA. No way?

Not just win98; earlier versions of windows could also directly access SATA hard disks without adding drivers. That's because win3.x win2.x win1.x all accessed disks through dos, that is, directly through bios int13, so for sata scsi raid and so on no drivers were needed.

If win9x doesn't load a disk driver, it can also access disks through dos like earlier versions of windows did (the so-called compatibility mode). But win9x can also load a disk driver and access disks without going through int 13 (the so-called 32-bit access mode), which gives better performance.

os/2 and winnt, on the other hand, never access disks through bios int 13 at all; they must use the corresponding drivers. Since xp itself doesn't come with sata and some scsi drivers, you have to insert a floppy disk to load the driver. Ordinary ide drivers are included with the system, though, so there's no need to install them manually.
