I started getting in touch with computers in the 2000s.
Previously, I always used a WinME boot disk to boot the system -- ran Ghost -- backed up the C drive.
Now the newly configured machine has no floppy drive, but has a DVD burner, so I want to burn Ghost and the C drive's GHO onto a single DVD, so that when infected with a virus later, I can restore it quickly. Having the GHO on the computer always takes up some space.
I tried using the MaxDOS CD version to burn a bootable disc, and then directly put the backup file ×.GHO of the C drive onto that disc, but when I finally ran Ghost, I found that it couldn't read the ×.GHO on the disc.
I don't want that one-click backup, I just want the following functions:
Boot from the disc -- enter a DOS interface -- manually input ghost.exe to run Ghost (because I want to put some other simple DOS programs on it, so run Ghost manually) -- restore the system using the ×.GHO burned on the same disc.

Use UltraISO + a ghost/img boot file to make an ISO file, then burn it!

First, determine whether your system has an NTFS-formatted hard disk partition. If it does, add and burn a program that can read and write NTFS on the CD. I haven't tried whether it needs to be added and burned if you are using GHOST 8.3, because GHOST 8.3 supports NTFS reading and writing.

Second, determine in what way you are restoring the hard disk image, under WinPE or under DOS. If restoring the image under WinPE, add and burn GHOST32 and the image on a CD with WinPE. For articles about the use of WinPE, please check in this forum.

Third, please optimize and streamline your system to make it as slim as possible. It is best to burn it under a CD to save space and also save the time for restoring the system. (The XP slim version I used is about 200MB after backup and compression)

ghost8.0 supports NTFS, no need to care whether the hard disk is NTFS. Just place GHOST.EXE in the boot disk or CD-ROM directory. Now such CDs are very common on the Internet. The owner can download one from the Internet for reference.

Burn a bootable CD. Use the 98 boot disk as the boot file, and burn both the ghost and gho files into the CD.

In this way, the boot interface is the same as that of Win98. After booting, find the CD drive and execute ghost. Generally, it is better to use version 8.2 or above, which supports NTFS, while version 8.3 may have problems on some systems.
