I have four partitions: c (fat32), d (fat32), e (nt), f (nt). The DOS boot disk loads virtual disk and CD-ROM drivers as well as Paragon DOS IFS driver. After entering DOS, the virtual disk is e and the CD-ROM is f, while the original hard disk partitions e and f become g and h.

How to make the hard disk partitions retain their original drive letters and have the virtual disk and CD-ROM drive letters automatically loaded at the end?

It is obvious that you are using a boot disk made by modifying Win98 or WinME. The mechanism for such a boot disk to find the memory disk and CD - ROM drive letters is very complicated. Because the CD - ROM drive in the default boot disk of 98/ME is behind the memory disk, it uses a batch file (setramd.bat) to find these two drive letters. It uses a findramd.exe (different from the one we usually use) to find the memory disk drive letter and then sets the drive letter behind it as the CD - ROM drive letter, which is very unscientific. In fact, your CD - ROM drive letter is indeed H, not F. You can try the findramd.exe and findcd.exe in the "Super MS - DOS 7.10 Boot Disk" (download in the sticky post). Copy these two files to the boot disk, add a "rem" in front of the line "call setramd.bat %LglDrv%" in autoexec.bat, add a line "findramd >nul" after this line, then change all "%ramd%:" to "%ramdrive%", and add a line "findcd /q" after shcdx33a, and then try again.

Since the use of ramdrive.sys still considers the memory disk as E, XMSDSK is used. But whether using ramdrive or xmsdsk, there is always a "Too many parameters" prompt. And finally the drive letter changes from A to G, and the memory disk (G) is still empty, and none of the files in the ebd are copied in.

Those lines can be removed, but you must definitely use our findramd.exe and findcd.exe, delete the 98's setramd.bat, they can only work with M$'s ramdisk.sys, otherwise the drive letter will be misrecognized. "Too many parameters" means you have incorrect parameter settings for xmsdsk, use xmsdsk /? to see its parameters. It is suggested to place xmsdsk in autoexec.bat instead of config.sys.

I am using the findramd.exe and findcd.exe from this site. I have deleted the setramd.bat. XMSDSK is placed in autoexec.bat, and the statement is: XMSDSK 4096 /Y, which should be correct. However, I am using a WinME boot disk. Is it that it doesn't support XMSDSK well? I wonder if there is any way to solve it?
