Hello, everyone. I'm a newbie to DOS-related content, so I have many questions. Just now, I downloaded an MS-DOS 7.10 standard boot disk from the DOS software of the new DOS era, which is the 323K one. When I used WinRAR to extract it to a floppy disk, it prompted that the file is too large to continue. When I extracted it to the local hard disk, I found it's 1402K. I checked the properties of my floppy disk and found it's only 1.38M (I'm using that common SONY disk). I know that the actual capacity of a floppy disk is a bit smaller than the nominal 1.44M, but is what I'm encountering normal? Also, when the decompression didn't work, I dragged the entire compressed package into the floppy disk and then booted from the floppy drive, but it didn't succeed. Could you, dear大虾, please give me some pointers on how to make this DOS boot disk?

I didn't expect there are people more noob than me!
Friend: You first extract it to the local hard disk and see if the extension is IMG or IMA, then put it into a floppy disk, then open it with WinImage8.0, and select the menu "Disk----Format and Write to Disk"!

I just went to that website to download it too, and found it simpler. After extracting to the local hard disk, just double-click MAKEBOOT.BAT in that folder to write it to the floppy disk!

Directly copying it to the floppy disk won't work. This way it doesn't have the boot function!

Thanks for the guidance from Yulu. I'm sorry, I went to the countryside for half a month and just came to thank you now. Please accept my belated gratitude. :D

Quoted: "Just double-click MAKEBOOT.BAT in this folder to write it to the floppy disk!", let me explain, that is to be done under DOS, not under Windows. Regarding the way to enter DOS, everyone can insert a blank floppy disk into the floppy drive, then right-click the 3.5-inch floppy disk, select Format and check "Create an MS-DOS startup disk" and then start formatting. After completion, restart and boot from the floppy drive to enter DOS. :P

Under Windows, you can use the WinImage software to copy the IMG file to A:
