[Help] Why can't MS-DOS under Windows run EXE files?
I run "MS-DOS mode" under Windows 98. When I run an EXE file in MS-DOS mode, this program can not be run in dos mode appears. But it used to be able to run. What's going on? Note that it's MS-DOS in Windows, not pure DOS mode

This program cannot run in DOS mode, that is to say, it is not a DOS program. The one under Windows is not pure DOS

Reply to the elder brother on the upper floor, I know that the one under windows is not pure DOS, so I could always run programs that are not DOS in the DOS mode under windows before, but now I can't, it's depressing. Don't believe it, elder brother, you can try it. Use your DOS under win or the command prompt mode to run a program that can only run under windows, and it will definitely work!

I'm using the XP system. In XP's cmd (DOS), as long as it's an executable file, it can be run. There are many types of *.exe files, such as 16-bit, 32-bit, self-extracting, graphical ones, and so on... Even disguised exe files. If your file isn't very large, you can upload it.

Yeah, brother. I used to be able to run all of them, but now none can run. It's not just individual files that can't run.

Even xcopy doesn't work? Then congratulations, you're infected with a virus

Big brother, after decompressing, when running, there was an error saying "The specified file is not a registry script, only registry files can be imported"
But thank you, big brother, for pointing out the direction of the problem for me.
