Many friends often ask why, even though they have clearly already loaded the VIA AC97 DOS driver, there is still no sound when playing games. In fact, this is because the file VIAFMTSR.COM is missing. Under DOS, many games use FM Music, so the file VIAFMTSR.COM is needed to drive it; VIAUDIO.COM cannot drive it. I have uploaded the software. Friends who have encountered this problem can download the software, then add LH x：\xxx\VIAFMTSR.COM to the AUTOEXEC.EXE file, and this problem can be solved. Heaven have mercy. The AC97 sound card on my VIA motherboard can finally make sound!!!
Thanks DD! Thanks! Thanks!! I immediately used QV246 to listen to MP3 for a while; not bad. WAV files can also be played. Then I went to dos\game\wolf3d and ran this shooting game said to be the first 3D first-person game (the ancestor of 3D games), haha, the intense sound effects let me feel the tense atmosphere of this game... no longer a silent DOS game... No longer a silent DOS world!!! |

By the way, that original VIAUDIO.COM basically cannot drive VIA AC97 at all. Please switch to this driver to drive it

I had been using the self-made driver provided in vsmame(http://vsynchmame.mameworld.net/)中提供的自编驱动，有声了，但没有FM and I got sound, but no FM. Even using bcp7b12(AMI BIOS configuration utility verze 7.00.B12 z 26.7.1999) to enable the hidden options in the BIOS didn't work. Now I've finally found the solution! Thank you! |

Heh.. intel ac97, huh....
It can make sound with MAME.. But intel doesn't seem to have released an ac97 dos driver |

Then with an intel onboard sound card there is no sound in dos?
