PTS-DOS 32 supports FAT32 and large hard drives, but unfortunately there are still quite a few compatibility issues.

Is this DOS 32-bit?

Then please let the all-powerful and all-knowing Sister Wen introduce to us in detail the characteristics of this PTS DOS32!

Hehe, that's too much praise. I'm far from being all-powerful and all-knowing..

As far as I know, the "32" in PTS-DOS 32 is different from the "32" in FreeDOS 32. The latter's "32" refers to the 32-bit OS, while the former's 32 mainly refers to FAT32. Thus it can be seen..

At least in my mind, Sister Wen is such a capable person! And there are too few capable people like Sister Wen!

It seems that the comprehensive evaluation of DOS now is that no one can exceed MSDOS7.1! Although it has appeared for many years..

It's not only FreeDOS that is truly open-source DOS. RxDOS is also open-source, but it has more bugs and is less practical.

Recently, LZ-DOS 7.1 has appeared again (although it only has the kernel). It claims to be 100% compatible with MS-DOS 7.1 (including supporting FAT32, large hard disks, and being able to boot Win3.x/9x, etc.). At the same time, the kernel volume is smaller and it is completely free. Of course, based on my observation and research, it can basically be determined that it is compressed and改制 from the basis of MS-DOS 7.1, but its small volume still has many uses. For details:

Just tried it with VPC, and it's not bad, but it doesn't support long filenames....

After replacing with COMMAND.COM from MSDOS7.1, long filenames can be supported.

Tested it and found that there is a little compatibility issue with this io.sys and Pocket Dragon.

Released in 1995, the memory management and disk drivers in it are 32-bit, and FAT32 is not supported.

It's no wonder, because this io.sys is modified based on the English code page version of MS-DOS 7.1, so there are some issues with the XZL Chinese system (I have tried it, and the original English code page version of MS-DOS 7.1 is the same); and various MS-DOS 7.1 boot disks in the forum are made based on the Chinese code page version of IO.SYS, which has better compatibility with the Chinese system, so there is no issue with XZL.
