I downloaded several PocketDOS, but they can't run in the Windows environment. The instructions say the running environment is Windows CE. I wonder if it's really not possible under Windows. If it's not possible, is there an emulator? Experts, please give some advice!

Looking at the official system requirements, it is like this:

Minimum:
A Handheld PC, Handheld PC Professional, Handheld PC 2000, Palm-sized PC, Pocket PC or SmartPhone with:

* The Microsoft Windows CE, Pocket PC, Pocket PC 2002, Handheld PC 2000, Windows CE.NET or Windows Mobile Operating System.
* An Hitachi SH3, Hitachi SH4, MIPS-compatible, ARM-compatible (eg. StrongARM, XScale) CPU.
* At least 1Mb free program memory.
* At least 1Mb free storage.

Recommended:

A Handheld PC or Pocket PC with:

* The Microsoft Windows CE 2.11 (or later) or Windows Mobile Operating System.
* An ARM-compatible (eg. StrongARM, XScale) CPU.
* A 16bit colour display.
* At least 4Mb free program memory.
* At least 4Mb free storage.

From this it can be seen.

Thanks to the webmaster for replying so promptly! Is the PocketDOS mentioned in the new DOS era the one described below?

PocketDOS is an IBM PC/XT computer emulator on Pocket PC. It can simulate your Pocket PC as a PC with 80186 processor, 1Mb memory, and CGA-compatible display, and can run most programs under MS-DOS. PocketDOS does not directly virtualize the DOS system, but it contains a simplified version of ROM-DOS, which is fully compatible with MS-DOS 6.22 system (including solving the year 2000 problem), and the external commands are basically universal with those in MS-DOS, and it fully supports FAT32 and long file names locally. Turbo C, USDOS and so on are all no problem~.

It's a pity that I don't have a Pocket PC. This thing is too expensive, almost the same price as a PC!

There are emulators for Pocket PC. But it's a bit complicated and the files are also relatively large. Refer to the following URL

This website was searched and saved last time! It seems I also tried it myself, but I gave up without succeeding!

Why run an emulator inside an emulator?

Actually, it's an integrated development environment, and the emulator is an attached function. Those without PPC不妨 give it a try.

First, install Visual Studio 2005, (this has copyright, find it yourself)

Then install ActiveSync 4.1 Simplified Chinese version

Download address: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=1C722C4C-259A-4F12-A5DE-720C72DA30D4&displaylang=zh-cn

Then install Windows Mobile 5.0 SDK for Pocket PC

Download address: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=83a52af2-f524-4ec5-9155-717cbe5d25ed&displaylang=en

Finally, download Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC Localized Emulator (equivalent to ROM)

Address: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=EEC33AE3-C129-4C25-ABAA-18E8E842178F&displaylang=en

Now you can experience the latest version of Pocket PC.

Then, use the synchronization method of ActiveSync to install pocketdos or other programs.

However, it seems it will take a long time to finish everything.
