@Autoit:
The domain www.cn-dos.net expired on May 11, 2006...
Do you want to renew it?

Also: I registered this domain for this IP: cndos.mooo.com
Do you want to use this, Autoit?

No, isn't this how we're logging in now?

No...The domain name has expired...Being able to connect still means that the DNS server you're using hasn't been updated yet
Or it's like me who connects here not relying on DNS but on HOSTS

Although the page said it would expire on May 11th, the domain name couldn't be accessed directly until one week later, which was May 18th, that is, yesterday.

Re All:

I also modified the hosts file according to Wengier's prompt to connect to the forum again, and both IE and Opera can access it again.

In addition, the news says that the original domain name may be restored within two or three days. I hope it won't fail. Now the following link can access the forum, but posting it here seems to be of no help to both those who can access the forum and those who can't.

To prevent similar events in the future, it is necessary to find a memorable backup domain name. However, free domain name systems always have various restrictions, and paid systems also have the so-called "expiration" problem. It is also difficult to find a more user-friendly domain name than cn-dos.net, and changes in the domain name will bring a series of problems and impacts.

Perhaps promoting the use of hosts or similar methods is a way, because it can not only solve the problem of the domain name system but also speed up the access speed. Most people who often visit the forum are DOS enthusiasts, and the rest should also be relatively familiar with the Windows system. For this group, the hosts method should be easy to master, so that the backbone of the forum will not be greatly lost, and thus the development of the forum will not be greatly affected. Of course, an automatic script to modify the hosts can also be considered, and the difficulty should not be very great.

I think it's better to modify the HOSTS file, so that the web page won't suddenly not open.

Hahaha, after reading this post, I just realized that I've been using hosts for DNS redirect all the time. Hehe, no wonder there were only 9 people online from 19 o'clock to 22 o'clock that night, and none of them looked familiar.

I said why I couldn't access it for a few days, and finally turned here after seeing the information from Wengier's New DOS Era.

It's a pity that I just joined today. What's the matter with hosts doing dns redirecting?

Open the hosts file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc with the attached Notepad, and add a line "58.215.64.130 www.cn-dos.net China DOS Union". 58.215.64.130 is the IP address of China DOS Union. This is equivalent to doing DNS resolution for yourself. When IE accesses externally, it first checks the IP address mapping from the hosts file for DNS resolution.

As mentioned above by willsort and weilong888, modifying the hosts file can sometimes solve many problems. Why not start a special thread to promote this method?

Then to disable a certain website, you can add:
192.168.0.0 website
That's it! It's really useful!
