I downloaded a hard drive firmware upgrade file from IBM's website, but it is a self-extracting file. Inside it is an image, and it needs to be extracted directly onto a floppy disk. But I don't have a floppy drive, and I want to extract the image file from it. What should I do? When I run this software, it shows “Self-extracting diskette image processor (DOS), Version 1.03
Copyright 1995, Sydex, Inc. All Rights Reserved.”
I can't find any related software. I hope someone can help me, thanks!

I suggest the OP not extract it onto the hard drive and run it there, because if you're going to flash the hard drive firmware, then don't run the flashing program from the hard drive.

Hard drive firmware should be flashable from the hard drive, right? Just like the system BIOS can be flashed after the computer has booted.

Try this method: use IMG to create a floppy disk image, then use FAKEDISK to virtualize it as a floppy drive, and then self-extract to it.
