Today, I accidentally discovered that there is a directory "Window~1.11" in the MSDOS6.22 CD version I downloaded before. It contains 6 floppy disk self - extracting files. After taking a closer look at the instructions in the directory, it turns out that this is Windows 3.11.

As far as I know, "Windows 3.11" commonly mentioned online generally refers to "Windows for Workgroups 3.11", not the real "Windows 3.11". Although it did exist, it is rarely found online!

The instructions during the installation said it was Windows 3.1, and the boot screen after installation was also Windows 3.1. But after entering the system, it was found that the version description of each system - built program was "Windows 3.11". This shows that this system is neither "Windows 3.1" nor "Windows for Workgroups 3.11"!

Experts, please give your advice. Is this Windows 3.11?

It seems that the attachments on the forum are full again. I had to delete my own 3 pictures to be able to upload one picture! Hehe

Probably. I remember that Windows 3.11 still had 3.1 written in many places.

Regarding the forum attachment issue, I have added a prompt in the lower part of the place where attachments are posted suggesting that files or pictures be uploaded to the DOS Union file upload system.

Since it says 3.11, it should be. Also, for such small images, you can try using png or gif format in the future, which are smaller than jpg.

Compare the volume:
JPG:25.6K
PNG:49.7K
GIF:11.5K (but some colors will be lost!)

I wonder what software you used to convert the format? If you use the system's built-in Paint, the result is generally not very ideal. The gif in your first floor I converted to png is only 9.55KB

You're really amazing, you were right! Then what software is used for conversion? Use ACDSEE or PHOTOSHOP

If it's already JPEG, saving it as PNG/GIF is a waste of space...

The expert upstairs, thank you! But, did you forget? I'm from the Chinese mainland, and the Wikipedia website is definitely not accessible.

I don't know which software has the best conversion effect, but I usually use irfanview. I also use it to view pictures, and the effect is very good.

Mirror websites of Wikipedia accessible in mainland China:
The Chinese version address is https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/zh/wiki/
The English version uses https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/

IrfanView, I've been using it for two or three years too.
The effect of converting to GIF is quite good.
Converting to PNG is just average.
I've been using a proxy to access Wikipedia recently.
What's the secure mirror path for Japanese Wikipedia?

Reply: To the upstairs, I don't understand Japanese, so I haven't cared about the Japanese Wikipedia. The Chinese government has blocked all language versions of Wikipedia, including those languages that no one uses and those that no one understands. In addition, Wiki seems to have versions in several Chinese dialects.
