The next-generation Windows command line is named PowerShell. Before long it will surely become the mainstream Windows system command line.
Since it is aimed at Unix shells, its functionality will be greatly enhanced.
I suggest the forum stay one step ahead and add a PowerShell preview section, to gather popularity first; otherwise I estimate a dedicated forum will appear later.
I am familiar with the Windows XP cmd command line and the Linux shell, so I volunteer myself for the moderator position of this section. I will do my best to gather popularity and make the DOS forum into the future discussion center for PowerShell.

I like this forum very much. I come here often, though I do not post much, but I believe every post I make is of quality. I hope the site admin and moderators will support this, thank you!

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I may be pouring a little cold water on it. I am not very familiar with either Windows or UNIX/Linux, but I will say a few humble words. If there is anything wrong, please correct me.
I think that although there is also command-line operation under Windows, this is different from DOS and UNIX/Linux, which are fundamentally based on a character interface. I cannot explain it clearly with concrete examples, and others can probably explain it better than I can, so I will just talk about how it feels to me. Aside from some low-level operations, using the character environment under Windows always feels less free than under real DOS, as if it is always boxed in by it. Also, I think that using a character interface under windows is putting the cart before the horse; it is something done only because one has no other choice. Since it is an application under windows, then the whole process ought to be graphical. I have seen some software providers give users software where certain operations still have to be done with batch files. This gives people an impression like designing a piece of clothing, then discovering there is one part you do not know how to make, so forget it, just slap on a patch—so long as it gets the job done. As for why windows still keeps a command-line environment, I think it is nothing more than to let people like you have something to play with; another reason, of course, is compatibility with the past, to give users a transition. And the most important difference is that in order to use the command line under windows I still have to install a graphical environment, whereas DOS and UNIX/Linux themselves are rooted in a character interface, and GUI is nothing more than an application built on top of that. So I think if one follows character-based operation under windows, one day one will always be “co-opted” by windows.

What the OP says also has some merit; indeed, a section like this can be established.
The friend in the second reply seems a bit too extreme.
First of all, we should be clear that any software/system is only a tool we use to use the computer. Just don't get it backwards.

What you say is right, it is indeed a tool, but this is a DOS forum, so it discusses DOS, and because of that we are selective about what kinds of tools we use. Also, I increasingly feel that Windows is becoming less and less tool-like. It seems as if everything is so automatic, as if it has already done everything for you, but in fact, hehe, everyone knows clearly in their hearts, so I do not need to say more, right?

How could this be?

What I said above was: DOSforever was a bit too extreme, but actually I agree. Just don't use XP.

Let me make a compromise suggestion. I wonder whether everyone agrees: set up a dedicated WIN command-line section in the Other Technology area, including discussion of the WinPE command line, the PowerShell (that is, MSH) command line, and so on. That way, any topics related to the WIN command line can be put in that section instead of being posted to the various DOS sections. This would both give new WIN command-line topics a centralized place for discussion, and also make the various DOS sections more truly DOS-like.

Moderator w's method is very good, just make a windows section. Forming a situation of 70% DOS and 30% win, I think that is not bad either.

Hehe

Also: I do not use XP either, 98 is still better. 98 is still relatively close to DOS; I have always used it as DOS's shell. If 98 has an error, to a certain extent you can still boot into DOS mode and save yourself, but if the NTs run into trouble, hehe, then you can only go outside and bring in reinforcements.

Thanks to the site admin for the support, and thanks everyone for participating!
I hope this section can be run as a popular, accessible section, so that even people with no command-line background at all can participate. Only in this way can we gather as much popularity as possible.
Of course, I do not mean turning this section into a newbie club. What I mean is that our new section should not be too technical or too specialized, and should not make beginners shrink back. We should make newbies become interested in the command line through the DOS forum, and help them grow.

For example, in the title below, the words “NT series” do not take newbies into account. Beginners may very well not know that this includes the operating systems they are using, such as windows 2000/xp. This way of writing is too specialized and does not consider most people. I hope the title of the new section can avoid this situation.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DOS批處理 & 腳本技術(批處理室)
Everyone can discuss here issues related to batch files under DOS, various script writing under DOS and the NT series, and related technologies. New!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, I am still applying to be moderator. My goals are:
1. gather popularity
2. make the section content accessible to the general public
3. make it practical

I ask the site admin and moderators to consider this, thank you!

As for this section, I completely agree with the following three points:
1. gather popularity
2. make the section content accessible to the general public
3. make it practical

Regarding the wording “NT series” that appeared in the introduction to the batch file section mentioned above, it has already been changed to take care of newbies.

If no one has any other objections to establishing this section, it is expected to be carried out together with this round of forum layout adjustments (see another thread in this section).

So this is an argument between a command-line system and a character interface.

No way, you still use 98? This system crashes and blue-screens all the time, I just about want to...
With XP this kind of situation is not so common!
When emergency rescue is needed, isn't it very convenient to use a boot floppy or CD or virtual floppy drive to get into DOS?
Maybe this is what makes experts different! Hehe..

98 is still better. It doesn't even need patching, it doesn't demand very high hardware specs, and system maintenance is also convenient.

Regarding the forum layout adjustment, I agree with site admin Wengier's suggestion in reply #7. I think that kind of categorization has very strong logic:
Put the many pure DOS sections at the top of the forum, to ensure the DOS forum's distinct character.
Put a small number of non-DOS sections afterward, to attract more users to participate in the forum.

This way there is both nostalgia and what is current. Both technical and popular. And the priorities are clear and the organization is clear.
It is a lot like how our country sets up special zones and practices one country, two systems. I think it is feasible.
